So you are thinking of a certain field and it seems like it is packed to capacity which will somehow limit your opportunities and your money. That is a scarcity mindset. This means that you believe that you will have no impact and that your skills are a dime a dozen.
What do you tell a Pre-Med student? There are too many doctors. What about a high school student who plans to be an educator? There are so many teachers. You might want to think about becoming something else.
"There is no scarcity of opportunity to make a living at what you love; there's only scarcity of resolve to make it happen." Dr. Wayne Dyer
To have a scarcity mindset, you have to believe that:
- there is not enough to go around
- you are not significant and
- your desires are not significant
What's the cure? The abundance mindset!!! It says that the Universe is infinite in it resources and that YOU and your desires were especially gifted to you. This is true. What is also true is that abundance is connected to gratefulness.
“When you are grateful, fear disappears and abundance appears.”
― Anthony Robbins
Usually when you have a scarcity mindset, you also have trouble counting your blessings with reckless abandonment. I was once afraid to celebrate the good stuff because I was wondering what wasn't going to work out. This is a scarcity mindset.
Here is one of those times where you can choose which thought to live by and meditate on. I'd choose abundance. And I do. However, I was raised based on scarcity. Every situation was extreme either to one side or another. So, it is tough for me to live a life based on abundance. It is like a foreign concept. It is something that I have to choose. And it's tough. Tough enough to be worth it.
If you feel that there is not enough pie to get your "slice of life" out of it. By all means, make your own damn pie!!!!!
