There is a way to use that negative energy and thoughts. Try this...
Write down everything that has happened to you that you view as "negative". Under each negative experience, write a few things that you have learned from them.
My example:
My father was addicted to drugs which caused his family a lifetime of pain.
What I learned:
1. It was his addiction and not mine,
2. People are imperfect but there is still lots of cool things about him.
3. He is still loved and I know that he loves me.
4. You cannot escape your problems by using drugs. Drugs will create more problems and be yet another thing to "fix" when it is all said and done.
(That was straight from my gut...ouch.)
This exercise allows you to be a Negative Ned or Nancy which strangely fills a void for at least a moment....then encourages you to see these negatives as learning experiences because as much as we want to be victims, we CANNOT and WILL NOT be victorious while behaving as victim.
